That's not bad for that many windows if they are good windows. Mine was close to that with only ten windows and solar screens. I have French doors all over the back of the house. From what I understand there are not that many places that build windows anymore. Both quotes I got used the same supplier in Texas and neither could get anything but white or off white. I had black on my house and they were no where to be found. Maybe that is just Texas though.

There used to be several very large ones, and a multitude of small/mid size manufacturers. The largest ones played on volume, and out priced the small/mid size. Many of them switched product lines, custom sizing, etc to stay in business. Within the last 10 or so years, several of the larger window manufacturers went under, especially in texas. Investors found the window industry and it hasnt worked out well for them. Once the larger ones go down, the smaller ones end up with the orders, and they have a hard time keeping up. EX: my buddy's place went from making around a thousand windows a week to 400 a day on two shifts, he's on a 3-4 week backlog, and having to turn away orders. He's currently looking for another building to set up another line, since he spent a few million on equipment earlier in the year. The machines that they use are on backorder, since he and many other companies are ramping up production to fill in the void created by the big ones going under.

We were talking about the home depot deal the other night, and apparently they are calling around trying to get a new distributor. You may not be able to walk into HD and buy a window off the shelf this time next year.
