How long are you planning on staying in the house? $3500 is a big price increase. I think the greenspeed only has 2 or 3 levels it can work at and is not as efficient as the Mitsubishi is. That being said, what seer unit do you have now? My house had an old 8 seer and we went to 15 seer and my electric bills are $50-70/month. I have new windows and insulation though.

If there is a chance of you moving, I doubt you will recoup the money

Probably gonna be here a while.
Wonder, how does it know the KwH and propane pricing or do I have to program that? I only have a hot spot, no regular internet connection...
Just seems like a lot of "could go wrongs"

wtf... greenspeed uses the internet? It should be a "simple" variable refrigerant system that can ramp up the cooling/heating power as needed.

This kind of explains it a bit more. When I did my research, this is the way I would have gone had I found an installer that would do it. Most of the Mitsubishi installers wouldnt put in a standard ducted system with the VRF and only wanted to do ductless. With pricing 15-20% more... it seems like a great deal. 6 months ago when I found an installer with some knowledge of Mitsubishi, he said they were working on residential ducted air handlers though obviously they were already out. Just no one in the area knew wtf they were doing.

I baled on the high dollar one... I just can't see the extra cash making it back.
I am very curious how the system calculates the pricing per KwH and the price of propane on an ongoing basis and selects the cheaper one. I guess there is probably some programming involved on the homeowner. the price of propane can fluxuate so much and you have to figure what you paid in the tank, not what its selling for today...
Oh, well. Should have it installed next week.

one of us is confused and it may be me....

I dont recall a greenspeed being dual fuel. I thought they were just a variable refrigerant heat pump that can ramp up heating or cooling based upon need. It is not like a conventional being 100% on or off.

Apparently it is dual fuel. I kinda like the idea, but guess moot point now since I decided against. I worry about so much automation/electronics. I had to replace a circuit board on my pool last year, that was $900. I can only imagine what this thing would cost if it gets a lightning hit.
