That was one of the things I specifically looked for when shopping for mine. You can get that post knocked out and have a 1 door put in.

I didn't take any pics of it, but it's a dedicated upstairs room 16x16 directly above the master bath and closet. Prewired for the projector and 7.1.

I would check to see if you can hear people walking around upstairs while you are downstairs, drives me crazy at my house.

There are a few design elements that I like which should help with that...

-the Gameroom upstairs is directly over the garage.
-Nothing is over the master bedroom. That's the slope you see on the back of the house.
-Our guest room will be over my study, which is good since no one will ever be in there.
                - Media room is over the master bath and closet.

From a materials standpoint, since it's not complete, I'm not sure what I could look at now. The upstairs will be all carpet which should help and the downstairs HVAC is run in the dead space between the upstairs floor and downstairs ceiling. That should help insulate sound a little.

Get some foam board on the exterior walls.

                    thick carpet pad helps too.

Spec has 1/2" 6LB pad listed. Supposed to be an upgrade over the standard carpet/pad.

If you can afford it and have space have them put a garage door on the back side of the 3rd car opening so you can easily go from the garage to the back yard. Add concrete and fencing and you instantly have a hidden additional parking spot.

Here are some more updates. Electrical and A/C are in, sheetrock and brick start next week. I'm going to sneak in this weekend and insulate the 2 exterior walls in the garage that aren't insulated yet.

I hate seeing #14 and 15A breakers on plug circuits.

I presume you're talking about the wire gauge? No breakers are installed, but I think all of the 110V stuff is probably 15A. I'm having some 220V stuff put in the garage, but I think most of it will be 15A in general. Is #14 wire undersized for a 15A breaker? I'm not much of a sparky, so forgive my questions....

                                20a breakers for #12 wire. 15a is 1800w.
