  • Where can I get fence panels at a great price?

I need to put up 11 6' high panels... and I'd like to rebuild the fence using metal poles instead of wood.

I'd like to do better than the Home Depot prices I've found... and I'd like to use a good sealed wood without it being top of the line or really pricey. Good enough to last 5 years, ya know? Can you get the kind that doesn't need to be varnished or whatever?

Obviously I know nothing about fencing right now, but I am going to learn.

Right now I need to know what I am up against with cost of materials.. panels and poles.

If anyone has any fence building tips, I would appreciate it.

I'm in South Arlington - Park Springs / I-20 area

Not sure if it helps but you can use a lowes 10% off coupon on Home Depot and couple that with a gift card bought off card pool for another 8% or so and net close to 20% off total

I've used the panels they suck and don't fit right unless the ground is level. I suggest using 2x4 s and pickets its not that much more work. Stain it with some Maximium stain they sell
At lowes to make it last

Red Ceader will last quite a while. It can be stained but I think looks good natural. It's more pricey than typical panels, but IMO worth the extra cost.

My tip would be to not use the panels. If you've dug out the old posts and have already set the new posts, then the hardest work is already done. You'll get a much better looking fence by using the slats.

I've done fence work at my current and past house. I've got the standard picket fence down pretty good. I'm in GP, If you can coordinate it on a weekend that I have nothing going on, I'd be willing to bring my compressor and nail gun...makes life easy. You'd have to buy a box on nails though...

How many feet are you doing?

I just had metal posts and western red cedar put all the way around the house (city lot, about 200 feet total) and it was a bit pricey, but well worth it. With the stain, it looks like the fence will now outlast me. Spend a little more up front and it will pay for itself down the road.
