My bad. Safe to assume you're a contractor? What do you refer to it as?

My house is cheap and I'm replacing the crap already in it with better crap.

        Better?

That's always been funny to me. "Contractor grade" and "builder grade" are used a lot to describe cheap and low cost/quality, but neither are good representations of what to actually expect.

Kinda like "custom homes" can be anything from the cheapest cookie cutter to top of the line.

Oh, and I dont like the mis-matched coloring on the cabinets, but it has become very popular. My mom toured some high end homes to get ideas when they were building, and I cant stand that she did it in her kitchen.

Looks good! Are the cabinets intentionally two colors or is that a half done project? I've always called low cost house crap contractor grade, didn't know I needed to find a more PC term so contractors didn't get their tender feelings hurt. Hell, most of the contractors I know call them the same thing.

edit: I was in the middle of something while writing that post so you just answered my question.

All good. So what should I call it then? The old stuff I'm upgrading, I mean.

i don't know what you would call it. it's just a marketing ploy that retailers use to make money

Mine's a retired contractor, and it doesn't bother me a bit. To me it means purchased in bulk, regardless of quality. It may be some nice stuff, but it's nice stuff that you'll likely see in other homes.
