Pretty well, but it's going to take a little time to establish and I think it will also depend on how close you plant them together. They're sold like this:

The vines grow outward faster than upward and get all tangled up with each other to form this:

I've got a couple of large patches of it underneath some trees and it does great in the shade and maintenance is minimal. You can keep it low and just mow over it on the highest setting or let it grow taller and maintain it with the string trimmer, which is what I do. I think it's best to separate it from the adjacent grass with some form of border, like the green or brown metal landscape edging.

I've never heard of anything like this, but I'd sure like to know, I've been in the golf industry for 14 years so I'm a little curious

I sodded my front yard last fall with Palmetto St. Augustine. Most of it is heavily shaded and while the shaded part isn't as thick as the parts that gets sun, it's hanging in there. Supposedly the Palmetto brand is more shade tolerant...but you still have to water it.

                      That's just part of it.

Under Stage 3 of the drought plan, residents and businesses can only use irrigation systems to water landscapes once per week if needed on the scheduled trash pick-up day. The watering schedules for commercial properties are determined by the residential trash zone where the property is located.

The city maintains efforts to reduce water use year-round, and residents are urged to conserve water. While residents and businesses are allowed to water once weekly, they are encouraged not to water at all unless needed. Restrictions under Stage 3 include the following measures:

                      • No watering with an irrigation system between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

I just do lawns in those cities. I have taken care of an individual's course ( since we built it in 1999) here in glen Rose. I no longer do landscaping , just have a lawn mowing service doing 90 lawns per week ( my son and wife do the mowing )and I spray around 140 lawns and in my off time take care of the course

First bullet point didn't carry over. They don't want you doing a damn thing, beyond watering once every 2 weeks.

Rain from last night won't hurt.
