  • need to borrow R-22 freon gauges

My Freon connection wants to know the pressure readings before he comes out to put in freon.

Anyone got R-22 gauges that I can borrow for a day?

I live in Flower Mound and work in Irving.

I got a nice set I will probably never use again. To bad I am south of the metro, but free if you want them.

I am headed to Best Buy in Cedar Hill in a few. I will throw them in whatever we take and PM you my number.

I learned a ton about A/C troubleshooting, Youtube.com is a good start but you still have to be careful. Youtube was indicating that I need a new compressor(several hundred bucks), and I was just about resigned to that end. But after talking to mustngacman, I learned a bit more than what I found in the Youtube videos, and it turned out to save me some unecessary large expenses to get the A/C system up and running.

So, I finally got the A/C cooling after replacing the power relay(it was buzzing louder than the compressor), and charging up the system.
There's no leaking that I could detect, so I'll watch for cooling trailing off and I'll take some pressure numbers in a month. I put in enough charge to watch it cycle between 69 and 71psi.

As a caveat, the A/C system is dated 1998 so it's age could begin to be a factor for more maintenance and repairs. Then there's the efficiency difference as compared to modern A/C systems. The compressor isn't ohm'ing out exactly as it should so it's not new but also not failed. I'll let it run until it doesn't.

I got the vents chilling at 56degrees

Many thanks to mustngacman for the tools, relay part, starter charge, expertise, and all the help.
