  • Getting gas line to built-in grill questions

We're closing on our new place in a couple weeks and I'm starting to plan all the projects I want to try and get knocked out before summer is over.

One thing I want to do is a built-in grill. The house has natural gas and there is a line coming out of the wall near where the fireplace is on the back wall of the house. The issue is it's a few feet from where I want to put the island at.

Can I route that line straight down into the ground, then have it come up through the slab under my grill?

Attaching a shitty pic for reference. You can see the gas line sticking out under that window. What I don't understand is why they didn't come outside with it right behind the fireplace. The back side of the fireplace is just about dead even with the end of the patio. That would have been perfect but I'm sure there is a reason for it.

I don't have any advice for you, but that's a nice sized patio. Throw some plants back there and that backyard has some potential.

shouldn't be an issue but you still have to get it permitted and inspected. Its one of those items where its good to do all the prep work and have the guy show up just to install the line to make it official.

You need to check to see what is code for your area. If it's going under concrete you probably need to run the line inside of some sort of vented sleeve. It make life easier if it leaks in the future as well, you only have to dig a trench once.

Yeah, I'm terrible at that shit. I'll probably be posting for more help once we actually get in the house. The size of the patio was a big factor in us choosing this house. The house itself is a little smaller than some others we've looked at but the neighborhood/school is about perfect and the house also has a 3 car which was a big check off my wishlist.

            3 car garage? Oh hell yeah! That's a no-brainer.
