  • My land is infested....

....with grasshoppers and spiders! I'm using Viper insecticide around the house and shop and it's killing the shit out of all the spiders and other bugs. I know the spider problem is mainly because of the grasshopper problem though. It's a damn buffet out there for spiders.

The viper works on the grasshoppers but I can't spray all of my land (5 acres). People all around my area have the same problems with MASSIVE amounts of grasshoppers. Any idea how to get rid of these fuckers?

The pic is of my front porch but it is like this throughout my yard, 10-20 jumping around with each step...

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." - Thomas Jefferson, 1776

Where do you get that viper stuff? I have the same problem but not that bad. I also have fuckin rolly pollies like crazy. Hope it kills them too.

With that viper stuff, do you just spray around the house and they get in it, or do you have to spray each one?

You can get viper off amazon or some pest control websites. It's top notch stuff as far as what consumers can buy. You mix with water in a gallon sprayer and spray around the property. It kills on contact and when bugs walk over the sprayed area when it's dry. It's no joke though, I wore a mask and chemical gloves.

Kick ass. I'm gonna get some. Any idea if it's kid safe? I have a toddler I'm sure will walk through it before any grasshopper finds it

Bayer makes one I use twice a year. I posted it in a thread a while back. I spray the trees foundation and the yard. Kills bout everything and you can see it work as you're spraying it. It hooks up to the hose.

Use it now while they are still young and not breeding. Next year won't be so bad. I'd spray the everything lol.

Yeah - get yourself a boom sprayer as well. Start mixing large amounts and spray everything. Some of the boom sprayers have a hand sprayer for getting around the house/hard to reach places.

                  I use..

..I have half the land you do, but I try to spray every year and then a bug company for interior.

Tractor supply has a lower cost, but good boom sprayer. For 5 acres you'll likely have to refill it before getting all your land. HOWEVER, it's not cumbersome and then can be used for other things.

Do you know anyone with chickens? My mom has about 20-30 hens that she lets free range during the day and they would eat every one of those bugs in about a day or so.

I was going to recommend those, or guineas. All the fresh eggs you could want, too!

I've thought about this but not being fenced off they'd wonder off Id think. I could fence around the house instead of the whole two acres tho. never kept chickens before. May be cool if my dog won't eat them lol

You kind of train them just like anything else. Build them a coop and fenced run to stay in at night and then let them roam outside during the day. They are pretty funny to watch and can take care of themselves against a small to medium sized dog. The rooster at my mother house will whip her basset hounds ass anytime it feels like it.

my old landlords had chickens. a little fenced run w/ a coop and they just roamed during the day. they stayed close to the house.

only problem is their fenced run couldn't keep the coyotes out
