  • Roll-up garage doors for residential?

Would it be practical if you had the money to install an industrial roll-up door on a residential house two car garage?

    Example - http://www.rollupdoorsdirect.com/rollupdoor2500.html

Story. Back in January my house caught fire and burned down to the ground.

Today. With the home owners insurance payout we are rebuilding the house from the slab upward.
With extra out of pocket monies we are making a few floor plan changes to better suit us.
IE. A larger kitchen for the sandwich maker, a 10 foot garage ceiling for me and adding an attached patio.

    Pros
More room for a future 2 post car lift
I want to maximize my usable ceiling height space
Better suited to vent the garage area during summer heat

    Cons
Possibly against the residential building code (City of Plano)?
Slower to open than usual garage door?
    Costlier than typical garage door?
Driveway parking is located in back so it would be used at minimum 3-4 times a day.

Earlier today I left a voice mail to discuss options with the General Contractor.
Since he is on vacation this week in Cabo while the framing structure is being completed I figure someone here might of been down this thought process road before and could reply faster than I hear from the G.C.

I have those doors from rollupdoorsdirect on my shop. So far so good. You can order them with an electric motor as well. I have the manual version.
