  • Garage door is crooked....HALP!!

Anyone have a recommendation for garage door repair? It's stuck in the open position and is crooked. I can see the spool of cable on one side and it seems like the cable slipped off the spool a little. I know there's tension springs so I don't really know what I can do to it safely without killing myself.

If I release it from the opener, will it try to go down on it's own?

I was able to get the door closed. At least I won't have to pay double time for someone to come out today. I was watching this video and decided I'm not gonna fool with it since it requires correct tension when putting it back together. Taylor Overhead Door wants $199 to come out and fix it.

    Anyone know of anyone cheaper?

Mine did the same thing last year. Mine had no spring damage, one of my wheels caught and the wire on the side got a little mangled.

I had Davis Door Service come out and fix it. If you can get the door open all the way it seemed fairly simple from there. Just untangle and pop the wheel back in place.

I agree with the guy in the video, if you have a spring issue call somebody, don't try to DIY that.

I'll give them a call. I don't have any spring damage and it was a completely replaced about 2+ years ago...door, tracks, lift, and all hardware. With it closed, I wasn't able to get the cable back in the retainer. I'm going to try again this evening and go from there.

If the spring isnt broke its a easy fix. I can walk you through it so long as one side still has the cable attached
