My brother has some in his vacation home in Lake Havasu City. What he has is tied through his security system since the house is empty the majority of the time. I believe it was all a package deal from the security company. He can control several lights, lock and unlock the front door, adjust the thermostat and pull up a live stream of his cameras, all from a computer or smart phone.

Mine was just lights and fans throughout the house, and I used dimmer switches and stuff off the shelf at Home Depot and controlled them through my Harmony One. Pretty much anything that has its own remote can be controlled from the Harmony remote. What I liked about that was the ability to hit one button to turn everything on or off, or get a movie started while dimming the lights. It was all basic and relatively cheap and easy to DIY. One of these days I'd like to have a real setup like you guys are talking about that can control locks and blinds and cameras and climate control and shit. Pretty sure most (if not all) of that could still be controlled through the Harmony, if desired.Last edited by jluv; 10-06-2014, 09:24 PM.
