Also, based on your cost references, I have to assume that insurance companies aren't likely to cover a steel replacement of a composition roof? That's also going to hurt you if the homeowner has to cover the difference out of pocket. I bet most would rather risk paying a bit of a deductible and having to replace it more often. Not that metal isn't preferable in many ways, just saying.
Oh, and fwiw, I HATE door to door sales of any type. I would almost rather pay more than to "reward" that business practice.
Again we dont really talk them into the upgrade. As a general rule we simply dont do composite roofs. We only go after people who already have a steel roof like the ones in those links that i posted. Their insurance co. usually covers the cosmetic damage and granule loss from hail. We talk to the homeowner, if theyre interested we verify that their insurance policy doesnt have a cosmetic endorsement. If it doesnt we are good to go. People like new roofs. Even steel roofs suffer that aging look and other problems. Those long warrantys are only good for actual manufacturer defects. But not things that happened to the roof due to weather or normal wear and tear and aging
But door TO door, i dont know if id call it that. Often times i will knock one door in a whole neighborhood. Then have to drive across town or even to a different town to find another that would qualify. Cause some are new or dont have the damage. Door to door sounds like I just start on one side of the street and work my way down all of them lol

I toured a place that makes a metal shingle panel like that decra. He took 24ga colored metal, stamped it, powdercoated it, hung it, then last step of running it through an oven. The margin on it was insane.ZOMBIE REAGAN FOR PRESIDENT 2016!!! heh

Im not sure if i got your reply right but standing seam is like one step below the "metal shingle" ones. Basically all it is, is a piece of steel that they stamped on some machine to look like a 4 foot long row of cedar wood shake. You've seen those houses that actually have a cedar wood roof?
These are made to mimic that look as best they can.WH

Yeah, and the most expensive damn roof that there is. I don't see how anyone pays that much for a metal shingle style roof.
What are materials a sq on that? The stuff I looked at was mid 300/lower 400 a sq. That is three times what the best shingles are almost. Then the labor is also higher.
I've looked into selling a product like this but honest to god people who like the look of standing seam gawk at the price 95/100 times.

I'll admit I bought a Uverse TV package from one once. I was in the market for better TV service, had already been considering it, and the salesman happened to come by my house. I almost didn't just so I wouldn't encourage them, but he busted out a $100 gift card for signing up and hooked me. I feel guilty about it to this day, like I did something unspeakable.

Once again im not selling it. I dont think I have never sold a single one. Replace existing, I do often. Im not talking them into buying anything cause they already have it. Its on their roof already its just damaged. And their insurance co. covers the damage.WH
