  • Should I get a plumber to snake this before I fill pool up?

Was about to start filling the pool up for the first time but noticed that I had some standing water from some rain earlier. Looks like its either not draining or idk if it should be with pool pump off. (first time pool owner)

Both drains are full/caked at the deep end of the pool. Pool hasn't been touched in 3+yrs had it pressure washed and painted earlier. Should I have a plumber come out and snake both drains or should I fill it up and see how it holds up, or do I do something else?

Can't get the grates open since its fully caked on inside. Any advice?

Wet/dry vac, if you can get it to clear it. It may take an adapter. The filter and strainer will catch it, but why just clog them?

Fill it up. We start getting an assload of rain and your pool could pop out of the ground. Break it up with a screw driver, fill up, and fire up the pump. It should suck it on through.

Or spray it with water to bust it up first. Oh and its a drain but it really doesn't drain anything. It just pulls water through and back to your filter. You will have to back wash, or clean your filter after a day of running or so. That dirt's going to go somewhere.

Got new filters coming in since they cartridge maybe I should run the old ones for a day or so before slapping in the new ones

Also - if you decide to snake go buy one. They come in handy for so many things. I bought a little Rigid and it has paid for itself 2-3x already for various projects (gutters, plumbing, vents...etc).

The only regret I have is not buying a full blown one at around 400-450.
