  • Plumbers please help

I had Roto Rooter out to snake a drain in my utility room. On what they call a preventative maintenance check he told me the water pressure into my house was too high at 125 psi. He told me it should be >75 psi and the likely culprit was what i thought he said a PRV valve? I was quoted $500 to change. Sound legit? Is this something i really need to worry about asap?

Did he try to adjust it to reduce pressure? Some are adjustable based on quick google search.

you could call the city and have them put.a reducer.on their.end of the meter, if your city does that..

I'd buy a gauge and check your neighbors to get a comparison...

Some PRV's are adjustable, some are not. If it is the adjustable style then you can try to adjust it if you know how to operate it, or you can call your water district to come out and inspect for proper pressure and condition. I think the watts 009 series that we sell are around $300, that's for a 3/4" NPT. Repair kits for most PRV's are readily available also. The 3/4" repair kits are around $75, IIRC.
