Fireplace burner/fireglass

Instead of using a normal ceramic log insert, has anyone done fireglass in their fireplace? It's pretty much just a burner set under heat treated glass chips. I was wondering how well the glass holds the heat.

Had it for a couple if years. No troubles. Had blue glass and it still looks blue after a ton of fires.

Looks great have one on my outdoor area currently. Can't use it in wood burning fireplace has to be gas only from what I read.

Wood is nice, but I don't like cleaning afterwards. and the fireplace is already plumbed for gas.

I had a wood fireplace in my last house, now I've got a gas one in the current house. I love the ease of the gas fireplace. On/off with a switch and nothing to clean. Doesn't put out the heat a wood one does, but that's the only negative. I much prefer the gas fireplace.
