  • Interesting ideas for the garage?

Since we moved into out house, the garage has been a storage place for our crap. Its the split door style, and my wife isnt confident in her ability to pull in and out without hitting it, and even so it isnt quite wide enough to open doors to get the kiddos in and out. So it just collects junk.

We're about to clean it out, paint the walls, and dress it up a bit. Anyone done anything interesting with theirs? Floors, wall decor, etc?

This is what I've done so far. The garage door still needs the high lift kit installed so I can raise the car the rest of the way up with the garage door open. I plan to put cabinets up on the back wall to provide more storage.

I got a bunch of old car related movie posters in mine and just generally keep it free of clutter and shit. DJ, I'd look into getting that pole knocked out and a single door installed. Not having one of those was one of my more important requirements when I was looking for a house.

I have, and since my truck or my wife's is usually parked in the driveway, it is more of a pain in the ass and expense than it is worth at this point. I really dislike that part of the house, and that the driveway has as much slope as it does.

hmm, I think posters are in order after seeing Tali's. I had this one on my wall as a kid, I think I want it again.

That's an excellent idea. I need to find the old Countach poster I had. I'm sure it's still made.

I wish my garage looked like that. Its amazing how much crap a family needs to keep in their garage. Or maybe its just my family. We can park our Expedition EL and there is still plenty of room, but man I wish it was nice and neat like that.

As for the actual garage idea, ours is all painted with a two tone look. It does make it seem like a much better looking garage than a plain old sheetrock wall. Ive got a couple of rock posters hanging up as well.

If you call around local cabinet manufacturers sometimes they will have overstock cabinets. This weekend I am going to a local place in Shreveport that happens to have a large order for an apartment complex that was all wrong. Can get nice finished cabinets for $35 for vanity and $65 for tall cabinet. I am going to get a whole set and wrap my shop with them then install a metal counter top.

Garage floor is a must. My last house I said I would get to it later. well later the floor was all nasty from spilled oil and whatever so would have been a waste of time to do anything nice to. New house had a clean floor to start with so no work was done in it and fall when I sealed it and epoxy. All clear's no color, always looks wet.

Your floor doesnt look bad from the photo. I bet it would clean up. I spent 3 weekends cleaning my concrete, its 8 years old but fortunately just had an old lady living here.

Yeah it's not about cleaning up at this point. I'd have a driveway full of crap just to get it clear enough to clean. Ugh. It won't happen in this house.
