Adios Wood Paneling

We've got the same 80's wood paneling here. Katrina likes the "character" it adds but I think it just makes the house look old and outdated. Plus with any kind of wood style floor going in would give a cabin feel IMO...wood floors, wood walls, wood beams on the ceiling, etc

Maybe showing her this thread will get her to change her mind about keeping it. At least two tone over it for starters

Just paint it. Tyrone Biggums house looks fantastic after they did. I was surprised at how much it changed the place for the better.

yeah, we talked about painting it, and I've lived in houses that had it painted, and even painted the lower paneling in my old house. I just wanted to update this house to sheetrock and texture for a more updated look and add value to the home.

My house is one of the cheaper ones in my neighborhood, on the smaller side too at 2100sqft.

I figured if I was going to do anything to up the value of the home, it would be updating the flooring/walls, staining the kitchen cabinets, and updating the bathrooms. It wasn't outdated by any means, but it was definitely 90s'ish in here.

looks like an amazing transformation. Whoever painted needs reminded that the roller should never be lifted in the middle of the wall. Kinda obvious where it stopped instead of traveling from the ceiling to the floor. If it doesn't bug you though who really gives a shit, right?

it was me, still have a final coat to put on. We did half the wall, because i didn't have an extension. I'm going to go back and roll one consistent coat on the whole room. we didn't prime the mud/texture, and it soaked up a ton of paint. next time I know to use Killz or another primer first, instead of primer/paint combos on new texture/mudding
