          I'm a Porter Cable fan at the moment, but there are probably 8 or more brands I'd buy into. Just when I bought into PC, it was by far the best bang for the buck at the time. Steel chucks...etc...etc...etc.

              I've been using the Hitachi for a couple of years now and love it. Drill and 1/4 impact. The impact is one of my favorite tools in the shop.

                  On Black Friday I bought my 18v drill with impact driver and two of the large batteries for $299 then got a cordless saw for free. Pretty good deal IMO

                      Just went and dicked with my saw and I'm pretty sure just one of the batteries isn't recharging. Used the secondary and it worked great. Did some looking around, and they now offer lithium batteries for it. Might pick a couple of those up soon. Sucks they use a different recharging station.

                        Went to Milwaukee M18 18 volt lithium ion this year and love them. I have two big batteries, drill and 1/2" impact so far. Plan to get a sawzall soon.

                          Ryobi is great for the pricepoint. Almost as good as dewalt or etc. - half the price.

                          It isn't nearly as painful when lost, stolen, or lent.

                            I agree if you are a hobbiest, low to moderate use DIY'er (but mostly low use). But I wouldn't waste my money on that tool if I did any professional work. Ryobi batteries should be nearly as good as just about anyone, but I wouldn't put any long term durability on their tools.

                              I am a weekender around the house, so i would say a hobbiest type would be good. We are doing a full remodel also though. I have looked 4 times now...no idea what to get!

                                I used to think that as well. Bought Ryobi (I know, I know - some love it. I had nothing but failures), B&D...etc.

                                It's not for the less times you'll use a tool. When you use a tool, you'll make it do the same thing as a professional - so you need the durability and power
