    do it.

I'm actually thinking of doing something like that in the wooded/lower part of my back yard, but for pedal bikes

How much are you willing to pay? Select fill is not cheap and neither is hauling it.

Matt, it will end up costing you more than having the pool resurfaced and paying a pool service for a couple years to fill it in. Plus, you loose any value that the pool would add when you sell it the house.

We don't use the pool at all. We were in the 3 times this year.

It needs new tile, coping, joint, etc. The concrete decking needs work. The trees are a pain the dick this time of year. The light doesnt work (pretty sure I'd need to dig up the conduit and run new wire). The equipment sucks... no matter what I do there's always an issue with it.

We're really just tired of it lol.

Well, its going to cost you quite a bit to fill it in, and its been a while since Ive been back there, but I dont think you are going to be doing it with heavy equipment with the way your back yard is terraced, unless I am thinking wrong. So just man hours is going to add up quick. Then the cost of breaking up the concrete, the actual dirt itself, etc. Then figure that when you sell, the pool will usually bring up the asking price of your house about 10k, and while you may not bring all of that, it does add the value of people searching for a house with a pool, and the extra benefit of the pool to edge your house over the one down the street.

I was in our pool about the same amount of times you were, but the wife and kids were in it quite a bit more. Have people over or something.

I agree with everything DJ is selling. I don't think your backyard is set up to allow heavy machinery back there, but it's been a long time since I've been back there. Instead of covering it up, invest the same money in updating it and upgrading your equipment, and pay someone else to service it and clean it. You might even use it more after that.

I almost didn't buy a house just because I didn't want to dick with all the goddamned yard work. I hired a guy to take care of it and home ownership has been MUCH better this time around.

how.bad do you want it filled. find a local constructiom site and ask if they are hauling dirt off the.job site. might be.able to get some free loads that way. its better for them not to pay to dump it somewhere.

                    The light is easy.

Turn power off (just gotta say it)
                    Un hook light from switch.
Tie rope to wires you just un hooked
Go to the pool and get a big ass pipe or pry bar and wrap the light cord around it.
Pop loose and pull out old wire
Tie rope to new light wire
Pull back through and re connect.

I won my light on Ebay for like 80.00. It was very irritating not having a light at night.
