gas fireplace?

You probably have a secondary gas valve somewhere that connects to your fireplace. Call up an HVAC guy or the gas company possibly?

yous guys make me lol. I took the damn thing apart and found the instructions manual under the unit, along with a button and another gas lever. I dont feel like messing with it anymore but im pretty sure i need to turn that lever to release the gas and push the button that resembles the start button on propane grill and this B will get cookin but ive been trying to finish my GD homework for like 6hrs. thanks for the tips guys.

Yep. That valve may have a certain place to light the pilot flame
