how the hell do you turn it on? theres a key on the side and after i turn it, i dont here any gas. Do i wait or is it shut off somewhere else?

Do you have a log set or just a bar with holes in it like a grill ?

The log sets usually have their own controls

There might be another valve from the line to the chimney you have to turn.

Also look for a switch. As in light switch. Our's needs to be "on" for it to ignite.

Yep, sometimes there is a primary valve for the line to the chimney/fireplace.

That may be it, or that switch may just power an outlet.

So...........3 hours later, no reply after finding "the switch?" I hope he didn't blow his house up.

flipped the switch, turned the key and waited. Nothing happened. I cant even hear or smell the gas. F it.
