Garage door opener "forgetting" remotes

Our Genie Excelerator stopped responding to both remotes. It works fine using the wall pad. I reprogrammed both remotes to the opener using the button on the opener and they started working again but then the next morning neither of them worked. I'm guessing whatever stores the codes for the remotes shit the bed. Is this a replacement part or am I looking at a new opener?

Well, they started working again with no further actions. *Shrug*
