  • House is coming along

Well I bought this jewel a little over a year ago with the help of Nate and SVT. I think I got a good deal but it has been a project. All the little things were no joke. The kitchen gets demoed on Monday and Tuesday and then the baths is all I have left. Should be done in a week if the painter gets in on time. I traded my 96 HD for the cabinet work and install. We went with maple and I went by the shop yesterday and the guy is doing fantastic work. You can actually pic up and move the cabinets that are there now. Tops are not connected either. Also have all new windows and solar screens coming for the house. It's not that I don't love the sound of wind whistling from outside but.......

This is the pre tear down shots.

I got several bids on a patio before I decided to do it myself. Turned out fairly decent for doing it by myself. Lets just hope I didn't rip out my hernia surgery from last year doing this and then lifting my Jeep. It is slowly getting better but I must have tweaked something holy shit.

    In the beginning

Now. Worked my but off on the pond also then had a guy come help me finish it out.

This thing was going to get ripped out and then I thought ehhhh maybe I can pretty it up. Hooked up my winch and straitened it right out with some 2x4's.

My house has a f'ed up corner where the bathroom extends out so it was a pain in the ass to work around. I overlapped the roof about a foot and a half and then got fairly close with the R Panel. Then I just ran gutters and it works great. Had the damn roof been flat all the way across it would have been a piece of cake and I may have tied into it. No leaks and I have ceiling fans up now. I even matched my dog door step to the patio. I think my receipts for the patio were right at about 1900.00 including some new saws and toys. The concrete I had a pro do and was 4200 IIRC about five months ago or so. Its a little deeper then normal and has a nice beam around the edge. I also got 4k PSI concrete because all the plants had issues that day. When they finally got up and running that's all they were pumping out.

that backyard is sweet. has everything i'd want. how hard is the pond to keep up with? a buddy at work told me he would give me a few of his koi if i ever got serious about building one. he has over 100 in his but his pond is about the size of a pool.

Pond is easy. I have a switch I just flip on and off she goes. Be ready for frogs , its like the neighborhood hang out for them. One of my main goals with the patio was height which was another reason for not tying into the edge of the roof.

I can't believe there's been no mention of the shape of the pool.

                            lmao

Are koi okay out there in the winter?

I've been working heavily on the interior of my house, and am almost finished aside from a total gut of the master bath that might be a few years before I attack. Want to start working on the backyard next year. I'm super jelly of yours, especially now that the weather is about to start getting nice enough to enjoy it.

I think IIRC they can even freeze and thaw back out. My neighbor had them growing up.
