  • Man, I hope this thing is going by tomorrow, but I have to fill it, do a trial run, dump it, then fill it again. It's taking this guy some time, I actually feel a bit sorry for him. He underestimated the parts, we sat down and talked about it, and without any prompting from me he said to make up for it he would run power to the shed for free.

That nutcase that wanted $2800 said it would cost $1000 just to dig the trench for the shed. And that wasn't even included in that $2800 estimate...

    • Did you get it going?

      • Yes I did. Couple of posts I made on FB about it so far:

So far so good. Spent about 25 minutes in it messing with the controls and different seating positions. Only thing I'm mildly annoyed with is the set up feels like it was built for someone about 6 inches shorter. I guess I should have expected that. The sweet spot is the lounger. I can drop low and that gets my neck right where I need it. The over the neck jets I was excited about are so far apart that even on me they are like arm socket joint jets. lol But you can use one at a time. Feeling pretty relaxed.

        This morning:

I'm not going to get overly excited, because I had some great expectations after the surgeries last year that slowly faded after a few days. But this morning after using the tub last night, I would put a reduction in morning pain at 70%. Which is insane. I was able to just get out of bed instead of doing a vigorous mental assessment to plan how I was going to try and swing my legs out without impacting my back, etc etc. I didn't hobble to the bathroom. I wasn't still hobbling ten minutes later to let Ramona out and start my coffee. And I slept for 9 hours. Only minor issue was I got in it so late in the day, my body retained the heat throughout the night, even after showering off. Maybe I'm just a little excited.

I don't feel like I'm 18 or anything, but I feel pretty good.

        • Damn thats kick ass, Eric. Every time I tweak my back I jump in my garden tub, fill it with hot water and Epson salt and after about an hour the pain goes away. So I know they work, I'm glad your getting some natural relief, pain sucks ass...

          • Awesome talisman. I'm filling mine now after draining it twice to clean. It wouldn't turn on at first and turns out the heater is bad. I had it disconnected while one comes in and all the pumps and jets work. The heater is only $75 and I paid 350 for a used 8x8 so I feel I got a good deal.

Thanks! You can't tell from the pics but I am standing under a 10x10 section of covered patio from the builder and that addition is 24x24. It gets pretty hot out there with out any trees from the cookie cutter neighborhood I live in so a pergola is in the pipeline. Lowes has a 10x10 steel one that I may put over it to help keep things cool.

                  • I've gotten in mine twice now and the shade definitely helps. I've also planted 4 trees in my back yard since I bought the place, but it will be quite awhile before they're doing much other than looking like twigs that other trees would make fun of. I'm frankly just surprised that all these projects are finally winding down after 3 months of non-stop work and contractors and searching for the right set ups and designing everything. Short lived hobby, time to get in my car and start driving somewhere.

                            • It's pretty quiet. The wall being there certainly helps. That was one of the first things I had done to the house when I bought it so I wouldn't feel like someone was looking over my shoulder while I was out there.

                              • TTT with this thread to ask a couple of questions. Eric, seeing as you had the house a while before the hot tub I was wondering what type of increase you are seeing in electrical consumption. Secondly are you seeing a worthwhile therapeutic benefit that you feel justifies what you spent?

I ask because I have been dealing with degenerative disc symptoms in my lower neck for the last six years if not longer. Both my thumbs and index fingers are numb about half the time and it seems to be getting worse. I'm just doing a little research to see if a tub might provide some relief, but I understand our physical situation as to how/where the injuries happened is different.
