  • Gas log install turned into a fiasco. Found out for some reason a previous owner cut and capped the line to the fireplace for god knows what reason. Now I've got to get that fixed. Not a big deal, just annoying. My contractor had to go dig around in the attic for them and find out what was going on.

They made good progress on the patio cover and they're still working.

It has really darkened the inside of my house, which I like, even though it only goes above one window. When I had the solar screens installed I went with 80% and should have gone 90, but I think this will correct a lot of the light. I'm gonna be a pale mofo.

      • Posts finished out, shingles on. Weather put a damper on getting it painted today. The hot tub will basically take up the entire area between the first 2 posts that are closest in the picture. Then I'll have plenty of room to finally spring for some decent patio furniture.

        • Ill be honest, I'm jealous. Also, the doubled up center post would annoy the fuck out of me.

Hahaha, it does irritate me a bit, but there wasn't much of a good way around it, and since it is centered it isn't too bad. Once it's painted most people probably won't even notice it.

            • I'd be more irritated by the fact that the rafters have air gaps between them and the cross running boards.

              • Alriiiiight. The construction portion is finished. Painted and ready to go. Hot tub was custom ordered a week ago and should be here in another 2. 81 jet therapeutic 6 person salt water tub, with MP3 player, subwoofer and waterfall. Need to find some decent furniture but it might take a backseat to a couple of other projects.

I'd be more irritated by the fact I was a pale white guy, with a bad back and a fetish for MCM furniture.

I am jelly. I need a real patio. I am torn with getting a patio built or a wood floors in the living areas.

Tough call. Increasing your usable living space is always nice. However if you do the patio now, your time to enjoy it will be short, or non-existant, waiting for it to cool down. I've discovered with this house that having usable outdoor space on nice days is a very large perk. But then again, so is not having nasty ass carpet to fuck with. How bad is the carpet? Do you have animals?

It's white carpet throughout the house. If you step on it, it's dirty.

And yes I do live with animals. The worst one is about to go to pre-k and won't be at home as much to destroy it. The bad thing is there's another one right behind him. And the mother thinks it's a great Idea to paint her claws and make spills.
