  • Aphids

Is there any way to rid a tree of these honeydew producing bastards? The only place available for me to park at home is under a pecan tree aparently riddled with aphids. For those who don't know the trouble with this, they produce a sticky sugar water substance called honeydew. It in turn ends up covering my truck. I am washing it every weekend to try and prevent damaging my paint more than it already is.

Any effective methods to get rid of these things?

Let me make some exclusions. I cannot cut the tree down or remove its branches, I cannot set it on fire, and the only other parking spot I have is in front of the house on the side of a highway...

I just went to the Plant Shed and they had me buy malathion. If you are close to Ft. Worth, you can come get some and not pay the $20.00 bucks I did. It takes like a tablespoon per gallon.

I am out in Greenville. Is it safe for the tree?

Yeah, you can spray it all over. Of course, I don't want to be the guy who killed your rose bush so do your own research. Plant shed has it for sure. Maybe one of the big box stores but I don't care much for them

I had the same problem with a crepe myrtle...I bought a bunch of lady bugs, and they were all gone in about an hour! I finally just cut it down.

They say to let them out at night so they gravitate toward the light in the morning, watering the area for them or putting them in the fridge for just a tiny bit to keep them slow, lol. I've never done it so I have no idea.

OP, my guess is unless you have somewhere local to you you'd have to order them online and have them shipped.
