  • Retaining wall and erosion.

I need to build a retaining wall about 3 blocks high at a sloping fence line that is eroding. What is the best way to do drainage. I was thinking a French drain the length of the fence line, exiting at each end.

It is the side fence line, about 25 ft from the house.

Are you building the wall and then back filling the yard? The way the walls are built in our subdivision is with pvc weep "holes". Excess water from the yard will roll off of the back of the wall. The purpose of the PVC is to prevent a pressure build up from excess moisture blowing the wall out

easiest way would to do weep holes thru the wall. placing pvc pipe horizontal close to the ground to drain the water from behind the wall to the front if you don mind the run of water goininto your yard. that is of course your yard has a good run off for the water to run off your property.
