Removed wallpaper in bathroom to find this,..

Anyone ever tackle a job like this?
Since wood and drywall has to be removed, figure make the shower a little bigger.
Looks like wood, drywall, and shower all needs to come out, 2nd floor is above it so I don't know if it is load bearing or not.
Just don't know if I want to tackle it and do it myself or hire someone.

Unless the wood is falling apart, just spray it with some bleach. If it needs to be replaced, just remove 1 2x4 at a time and replace it. Not a big deal. I doubt a shower wall would be structural and load bearing.

This is why when we build our house the shower will be stained and sealed concrete.

That wont change anything unless you recess your shower. Mud pans are made of concrete and sand with a 6ml plastic liner under that.

Cobrajet69 's brother did our shower. Came out great for a great price. I can't see your pics here at work but I can only imagine they look like mine did from my thread back in Dec '12. Ripped it all out and rebuilt. Now good as new but better since we added some things at the same time.

I plan onvthe shower being formed out of concrete at thesame time the foundation is poured. Basucally the entire shower will be one piece of concrete and the shower area will be recessed with no wood close to it. I wish I had pics of my grandad's old lakehouse to put up but I dont; his shower was done in a similar fashion to what I want done.
