  • What is this, and how to kill it?

I have this shit growing all over the yard. Complex root system. Weed killer kills what's on top, but seems to sprout up again somewhere else. I'm hoping maybe the grass keeps growing like it does and suffocates it out.

Was the weed killer you used for broad leaf? That's what I would try.

Been doing that also, stuff goes in deep and all over the place. I had one root go down a foot before I said fuck it and didn't want a bigger hole in the yard.

I would try a vine killer and spray it at the root. I have a couple of those but haven't dealt with it yet.

              Use a brush/vine killer.

Thought of that, but don't want to lose the grass around it.

Dump a bunch of diesel fuel on it.

Paint it on with a small art brush.

Don't pull that stuff up. It has a very aggressive root system and just multiplies when you pull it up. Use a good 2-4-D broadleaf weed killer and don't spray it on the grass if it is over 85 degrees. It will stunt the carpet grass. Don't buy the premixed crap from the garden store. Go to a farm supply store (Tractor Supply) and buy a quart of Amine 400. You can buy it in quarts without a license. You may have to spray several times, but you will get it. And, the grass will choke it out once the grass gets established.

amine 400 label states, st. augustine may be severly injured by this product, only spot treat. for fyi

not sure if the label covers it but i use celcius for just about all of my weed problems that come up, its safe to use on st augustine also

That shit looks like the stuff that has the bulb underground. I always dug up the bulb and be done with it.

It definitely has a vast root system. I chased that shit for what felt like miles. Some root almost 1/2" diameter.
