  • pool guys in here...

What's the best and easiest stuff to use to replace the expansion joint on my pool? "deck o seal" seems to be a front runner... Damn, pool stuff is always expensive.

That (Deck-O-Seal) is all we sold when I worked at Leslie's/California/Dolphin Pools back in the early 2000s. Expensive, but it works (at least that's what they customers said, I've never used it personally).

Leslies is great help, I just HATE their prices. I've found the deck o seal a lot cheaper online.

From what I read, you get the old stuff out with a razor, back fill with sand , add the foam backer, prime the concrete, tape the top of joint to keep from making a mess, then squirt or caulk the joint. Just a PITA job, not hard.. Guess I will order the deck o seal 1 step caulk cartridges from Amazon

I ordered the deck o seal from Amazon for $63 for 4 tubes. Lelsies sells it for $35 PER TUBE... Saved a few bucks. If anyone cares, I will give feedback when I get to the job...

I have an above ground pool and I bought it from my friend because he want to build an in ground pool. Before buying this from him I checked prices and I think I got it very cheap from him. In my opinion, deck o seal is better than any other.

Good friends, good books, and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life.

Warning you now.. Doing that shit sucks. Cutting the old out is annoying, and that stuff gets everywhere. I've done that job at least a dozen times and it sucks every time

Fired my pool company (guy) two weeks ago. We were having an algea infestation - and he kept blamming it on the metals in the water. He would come out - shock it - and never come back. No brush, no vaccuum, no followup - until next week. After complaining - he finally came out - I stayed at home because I was just going to fire him there and then - I watched him come - poor acid in the pool (no test, no othing else) - and expecting him to return - he just left.

Bottom Line - if you want to pay someone to maintain your pool that's fine - just make sure YOU know how to maintain it first. I didn't know - and just assumed - and now I'm sorry I even paid someone - it's easy.
