need suggestions

What would you guys do with this area? We bought the house with these cactus and planned on pulling them out. After seeing the flowers and reading up on cooking them we decided to keep them. I'm just not sure how to make that corner look more appealing. Do people normally just throw gravel down and call It a day? I dont want to really deal with getting pricked to weedeat.

What do you guys think?

I like it. I would remove that fence section in front of it, then put rock in around the cactus. Use stone, or larger rocks to do the border. Google "cactus garden" for some ideas.

Ha. I seriously was going to give them away. And then they started sprouting flowers and my wife wants to keep them now. She spent an hour looking up cactus recipes last night.

Edit: as far as the barrier goes. I think you are right about taking it down but i need to put up a better looking fence. I have two young kids and dont want them in there for now.

Eatem as is. They kinda taste like sour patch kids.

They do make great gardens. Especially when they bloom. The fruit is pretty good also. I have some creeping into my yard from the feud behind me. I'm thinking on digging some up and locating it where I want it.

I pulled a few of those from a vacant lot down the street, a few weeks back. They have yellow flowers on them now, so the transplant went well. There is still a few more left if anyone is interested. What is left will probably be bulldozed once the lot is developed.
