Ever since I refinished an old piece of furniture for our TV stand, I have been trying to figure out what to do with the doors. They have wooden frames with wicker inserts. I decided to sand them down and stain the frames dark walnut to match the rest of our furniture.
This is how they started
How they look now
As I was wiping the frame down I found that the center wicker panels were flaking. The best solution I had on hand was a can of minwax polyshades in pecan. My thinking was that the urethane in the pecan stain would keep the coating on the wicker from flaking further. Imho it looks perfect with the pecan stain.
