Help me pick a color for part of my kitchen.

Bright yellow might .. no, it will be a bit garish.

With those tiles, I'd consider more or a muted blue/green since the wall space is limited and you're going with white cabinets.

^ This is more what I was thinking, but with a shade more blue in it. The black granite will give a nice contrast against everything else. This is pretty much exactly what the guy that bought the '57 has in their kitchen, minus the back splash. Hit them up on fb and I'll bet she'll send you some pics.

Yellow, pure bright lemon yellow is the most fatiguing color. Why? The answer comes from the physics of light and optics. you can move up and down that green scale lighter and darker too and they all work pretty well.

these are the blues i would stick to as well, which are based on the blue in the tile you have.
