Is this good for St Augustine?

I had St. Augustine at my old house...or rather I tried to get it to expand. I laid sod twice and it just wouldn't grow. My new house has Bermuda. I put a bag of Bermuda seed in my spreader and mixed a little fertilizer in and over seeded my entire lawn. I have thick green carpet now!!
Plus, they sell bermuda sod for cheap and that stuff is taking to my bare areas like crazy.
Ditch the Augustine, Bermuda takes less water, is drought resistant, chokes out weeds, and looks great at 3 inches when it fluffs up.
Anything that looks that good and is considered "invasive" is fine by me.

Beyond that Bermuda is great. It is very invasive, grows fast, and does choke out weeds like you say.

I do have to fight my trees alot and thin them out so the grass will get at least 4 hours of sunlight, but raising the canopies also helps my house look better.
To each it's own, I just learned from fighting st. augustine for over 5 years that Bermuda is much more budget friendly and can take a Texas Summer beating without draining my bank account.
I will admit this: A St. Augustine lawn looks wayyy better than a Bermuda lawn when done right.

With my new sod, I put down starter fertilizer with it. Should I re-apply fertilizer? If so, how long should I wait?

YMMV but for me St. Augustine is great in mostly shade and wont kill your water bill. That said if you have more than about 6 hours of sun on it per day you will have to water daily and it will SUCK.

I've had great results in the front yard with the Scott's bonus s. The backyard is a whole other story. I want Augustine back there but I don't wanna buy enough sod to cover an 80 x 120 ft area. So I will be seeding the shit out of it with Bermuda."You wouldn't know what crazy was if Charles Manson was eating Fruit Loops on your front porch"
