  • adjustment on edger

Long story short, I have a homelite weedeater and bought a used homelite edger from a guy that said he couldn't get it to run. I can swap the attachments I'd I want but I would rather just get the edger running correctly.

So, I can get it to start but it chokes out at wot. I wanted ti adjust the air/ fuel mixture and this is where I run into a problem. The adjustment screws are missing the caps that you can turn. It's just the bare screws. See below. The first one Is a pic of my weedeater with the a/f mixture adjuster (red and white). The second Is the edger with out the adjusters. How can I turn these screws without the plastic adjusters?

Pull the adjuster caps off of your string trimmer and use those to adjust the edger?

I thought about that but I didn't want to possibly mess up the weedeater in the process and end up with two bad tools
Do they just POP on and off?

On my Echo stuff, they snap on an off. Take a pic of the good adjustment beforehand so you can put them back the way they were.

yea, they aren't the same. I took it off the weedeater and it won't work.

reading up and I have seen they require a special tool to adjust. fucking bullshit on a cheap weedeater.

Dremel a notch in them and use a screw driver.

If you can't slot them with a dremel, clean the area with brake cleaner, let it dry, get some #6 or #8 phillips head machine screws, put some JB Kwik on the tips and set them on the adjustment heads and hold in place until it sets up.

My guess is the diaphragm is bad and the screws don't need to be adjusted. The ethanol in the gas is hello on 2 stroke engines. You may want to look at that first.

I adjusted the pacman screw on my ryobi power head with a small sharp pair of dikes . They are lean and gutless from the factory .
