  • Just finished most of my kids room

Well it was time to get my kid out of his toddler bed and get him some big boy furniture. Me and the wife went all over DFW looking at beds and other stuff and quickly came to the conclusion that furniture has become retarded expensive, terrible quality, and none of it was what we really had envisioned for him. So I set off to the hardware stores with the same budget and I built his bed myself with just the plans in my head of what I was looking to buy for him in the first place. I built the entire bed out of red oak Not this soft wood pine, particle, and laminate crap we saw everywhere. Put a book shelf on one end, gave it a worn finish with a colored stain and it was done. I was sure to build the stairs to be able to hold a grown adult and let me tell you it does not even flex a little with me bouncing on it. I painted his wall, put up some vintage WWII plane pics, ordered the wall fixtures, hung and wired them to a wall dimmer switch that he can reach from in his bed, put some old school style squirrel cage bulbs in them, and then threw him up a new 40" led slim TV and a bluray player on the opposite wall. Not a bad room for a 3 year old.

Very cool. How long did it take for him to make a "bunker" underneath the bed? My son loves making bed sheet forts and climbing stairs and would flip if he saw that set up.

Thanks guys. It was an ass whipping for sure getting it all done. My entire garage is coated in about a half inch of saw dust. The kiddo is more concerned with perfecting his jump off of the top step to the floor rather than setting up shop underneath as of now.
