  • First mower suggestions

Im trying to get myself a mower and I'm pretty overwhelmed by the options out there. Been looking at reviews online for mowers and it almost seems like there are no-shit mower snobs out there.

I have about a *EDIT* 0.8 acre lot, VERY flat except for one drainage ditch in the front by the road. I would like a bagger mulcher and it be self-propelled. I have been looking at a Craftsman with a Honda 160cc motor for $289 and a Troy Built with a B&S for $270.

The thing that worries me is when reading reviews online many people complain about the front part of the chassis with the plastic housing instead of all metal for the wheel mounts. I am obviously not going to be running a lawn service with this thing, it just has to do some light duty mowing. Anyone have any experience with these brand mowers and have any input? I'd like to stay below $300

The first time you cut two acres with a push mower, might very well be your last. LOL!

Get a riding mower or pay someone. I've got 3/4acre and I used a nice new efficient self propelled TORO last year. I'm paying $60 every two weeks this year. FUCK mowing my lawn, never mind one that's 2-3x bigger!

Zero turn all the way and never look back. Even if you buy the ones at Home Depot you will be glad you did. Takes me less about 30-45 minutes to mow my one acre with a 48 in Gravely.
              Whos your Daddy?

Ok ignore the lot size then. Just looking at the place I know a self propelled will be no issue. I guessed the lot size at about 1 acre or slightly less but the wife in her infinite wisdom chimed in claiming she thought it was 1.5-2. And apparently in my infinite stupidity I went along with it. So let's say 0.8 acres, or hell just a large neighborhood home size yard and go with that.

I don't have any experience with the honda lawn mower engines but I can say the strongest and longest lasting mowers I've had have all been Briggs and Stratton

For future reference a square acre is roughly 209ft x 209ft.
