  • Chalboard paint

Has anyone used this chalkboard paint on their walls? Just wondring what type of prep is needed - did you smooth the walls or just paint over the texture. How well does it write/clean up?

I'm thinking that when I paint my walls in the garage I will do one wall with this stuff. That way I can write out parts lists, ideas, etc on the wall and not worry about finding paper.

    Thanks in advance

I would think you would want to smooth the texture. I wanted to do this for a kids room, but wife nixed that.

    I like your idea.

I did it on a lightly textured wall years ago, clean up was decent and it worked well overall. We have talked about doing it in the kids play room but I think I will just use it on a sheet of wood and screw it to the wall instead.

Might I suggest the "whiteboard" type rather than chalk? Same function but chalk is messy and you cannot write in a "fine" line. Also, the matte finish of the board isn't as easy to clean up (later I mean, not the paint clean up). Leah used the whiteboard paint on the inside of her daughter's old bunk bed playhouse thing and it worked very well. No special prep that I am aware of.
