  • School me on Bermuda grass....

I've ALWAYS had St Augstine grass, I love it. But the new house has Bermuda. How do I treat this stuff? With St Augustine, you just fertilized it, and it would choke out the weeds - I don't think Bermuda does this. So Weed & Feed? or what?

What type of fertilizer? How high do you set the mower? How well does it handle heat?

the higher you have it the less you water have to water it. If you mulch it in and tend to let it grow too long between mowings, you might find yourself needing to dethatch it every few years. If you aeroate it periodically, that'll help keep the dead grass from building up too fast before it has a chance to decompose.

The one time I used Vigoro fertilizer, it seems like the next year my yard went to crap. It may have been a coincidence but I'd spend the extra few bucks and stick with Scotts.
