If you're 50/50 then kill the weeds with a broadleaf weed killer. Put down a 3/1/2 fertilizer when it warms up a bit. That bermuda won't start growing real good until it hits the 80's. If you can ,use one of those hose end spray weed killers. I think Ortho has one that has a little higher concentration than the others, read the labels.

Can I spray it right now, or is it too cool outside still?

You can spray anything that is green now. I would spot kill some of that with round up...

I would suggest to go ahead and spray the ortho now, then do it again in 30 days and be sure to water it couple times a week. See what it is like 30 days after the second treatment and go from there. This worked for me, and my yard was much much worse then yours when i bought it.

TruGreen came out on the 5th of Feb and put down "Tri-Power Barricade Pre Emergent". = $284. Funny thing is, got the bill today and we never told them to come out this year. So I get to have that discussion tomorrow.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

                  fyi
barricade is a pre emergence only
tri power is there broadleaf weed killer (may cover grassy too, not positive)

they "accidentally" sprayed one of my customers lawns last week, luckily i hadnt sprayed it yet....they were supposed to do the house 3 doors down

                  Z

you must have a big lawn for that price

1.5 acres of yard. I called and cancelled while I look for another company. Not that I am all that upset with their service, moreso their price and the fact they sprayed without asking if I wanted it this year.

Now that its warming up would it be a good time to drop some fertilizer? I have "some" st Augustine and plan to sod some more pretty soon. would like to get some fertilizer out first if its time.

still pretty cool to get any nitrogen uptake, may see some color from some iron, ground is still pretty cool for grass to really move, i have put off my fert apps for another 2 weeks atleast.
it wont hurt anything but you wont see alot of growth either,
What i really look for is night time temps to be consistantly in the 60s with daytime temps in the 80s regularly before i start to fertilize. (home lawns)

if you havent put any out then go ahead, you will still have to treat existing weeds with a post emergence weed killer
treatment for grubs in may will be fine, not sure what the home stores carry, if you can find "merit" (active ingredient is Imidacloprid) it is one of the best to use, it has both contact and system control for a larger kill window.
if the "home" stores dont have it your local johne deere/lesco dealer should, also can check with ewing stores they carry it also

Well, I sprayed my lawn with that ortho and pretty much killed most of the weeds. I decided to throes some seed down since the yard is really thin. I can see bare dirt all over the place. Is it ok to throw out the seed a few weeks after that weed b gone?
