  • Painting question

I have to paint a room with 4 different colors. I want to keep cost down, so can I use say 2 rollers? Can i paint one wall, wash off the roller and paint another wall? If so, do i have to let the rollers dry?

Rollers are cheap man. You can get a 4 pack at Lowes/Home Depot for less than $10.

Yes you can use just two, yes you can wash them, and yes you absolutely have to let them dry.

For the medium texture rollers? I remember it being a bit more. Just saving cost anywhere I can since I have more rooms to paint after this one.

they are cheap but you could get away with washing them and soaking up the remainder of the water with paper towels. I don't see them being a little damp a problem. It wouldn't take long for the paint to mix with any leftover moisture on the roller. By the time you got to your second coat, you'll be fine.

But if it were me, my time is worth more than washing and waiting to reuse a roller.

Save money and use just one color.

For $3-$4 per head, just dispose of them. It would be very difficult and time consuming to try to clean the head well enough to reuse immediately.

I was just wondering if paint experts had some tips on saving. I have a feeling I am going to be painting a lot this year.

I'm no expert, but I have painted houses before for a company and we cleaned rollers all the time.

The way we did it: Scrape the bulk of the paint off, then rinse the roller until the water looks clear. Then rinse some more. To dry it off a little quicker we would take a water hose and spray the roller on the side enough to make it spin up and fling the bulk of the water off. We stopped there, but use towels to get it a little more dry if needed.

                    Good luck.

I reuse the ones that are a thicker nap, but you can buy a eight pack for barely over a buck each. Lot of work to clean

I usually wet my rollers before I use them. Just spin out the access water. Paint takes to a wet roller mush easier.
