Nope. I called. If the insurance adjuster could claim "long term" occurance lead to the damage, it would be denied and I get a discount each year for zero claims made.
To be quite honest, I don't know. I am not there to actually talk to them about it. Maybe David can ask.
Found out that fucking things is concrete. My wife is going to have them float the tiles on top to angle more towards the shower though. Not sure why the builder had it flat with a slight backwards towards the wall slope. Lazy!
More progress on Friday coming.
There is no excuse for that. In a perfect world, you would be able to go back after the builder.
Good luck Keith.

Are they going to put a water proof membrane over the backer board so you don't have to go through this again?
The board they are using is made for showers and is actually waterproof. You don't use plastic because it would actually cause mold. The original builder just used standard sheet rock which is what caused the problem in the first place.

David
I know. I wasn't referring to plastic, but a product like Hydroban or Redguard to use over the substrate. Hardie, Durock, etc. are suitable substrates but aren't completely waterproof so as extra insurance some people choose to go over it with a 100% waterproof product. I'm shocked that the original builder used sheet rock, but yet I'm not. That's just a flat out cheap asshole move.

Yes, redbond or they hydra stuff would have been nice but I was not there to oversee the work and trust they know what they are doing with the tile and grout. For what we are paying I am not complaining one bit. His bid was HALF what the "hook up" from my brother's best friend was.
99% of the tile is in. Grout going down tomorrow (Sunday).
