I had one like that only with a full view oval on my old house for almost 15 years. Stained and clear lacquered it. Looked beautiful. The house faced the south and was in set so didnt get much direct sun. Maybe thats the key to keeping a hard wood door.

Also, if only the outer glass is broke a glass company that does custom insulated glass may be able to repair cheaper than replacing. Just a thought.
