  • Water well questions

What is the cost to drill a water well? 80 -100 ft to water table.

Should we go deeper for better quality?

Any recommendations on a drilling company?

This is all greek to me, so any advise would be greatly appreciated.

      Thanks
Is that for a complete, working well or just the cost to drill. DO you know of any reputable drilling companies?

$30 a foot is turn key. Watts drilling has been around a long time.

450ft deep well here. Water tastes awesome and once you run through the resovoir it comes out ice cold.

Affordable Water Wells did my parents house and many people they know. $4k minimum I believe and $20/ft turnkey with pump.

Just realize that turnkey numbers may change depending on the depth and that is why Affordable Water Wells charges a $4k minimum. The pumps are not cheap as well as adding the siphon tank to go with it.

so is there a way to find out if there's even water below you? Or do you just drill and hope you find water?

I have an old water well on my property from the HOA, it was abandonded many years
ago when they decided to get on city water.

I'm getting the easement lifted, then I can start testing it.

The neighbors say it's 700ft deep.

we have a 300' deep well here. Was already on property when we bought house, all i can recommend is have the FLEXIBLE pipe installed or you will have to pay someone to pull it if the pump ever goes out. We just pulled ours and thank goodness it was flex we were able to swap it ourselves, saved thousands!

Our neighbor had to go to 450' or so. I am going to hate to shell out $12,000 for a well. That just seems like a lot of coin. But for just irrigation alone for a 1.5 acre lot I need all the water I can get. If I want a green yard my monthly water bill is $300 and higher.

The shitty thing is, the previous owner had the opportunity to go half on my neighbors well to use for irrigation. According to my neighbor they were only asking for $2,500 for the rights to half but they put our house on the market before they drilled; leaving the new owners me, out on a good deal.

A well is on the short list of things to purchase if I go back to work in Afg next year.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

I'm in the same boat here. Dropped $3K into irrigation this spring only to have the rural water district triple the summer water rates this year. With limited watering on 2/3-acre, we were at $250. So, I'll be doing a well next spring for sure.

The Dept of Environmental Quality here won't even let you drill a well for drinking water unless you are on a minimum of 5 acres. Anything smaller and you're limited to irrigation only....

When the zombies come, there won't be any city officials to tell me I can't drink my well water. lol
