  • Any hookups on places to buy Granite/Quartz?

Moving to the the final stages of renovating my new house, and have roughly 72 square feet of counter top space that needs to be replaced with granite or quartz. We are just wanting black. Nothing fancy, just black quartz or granite or anything man made that is as hard.

The problem is the kitchen has two sections that are about 9.5 ft in length.

I am taking any recommendations on companies that would do good work at a decent price. Anyone know ball park price of $$ per sq/ft installed?

    TIA

Im interestd in this as well. I have DuPont Corian, it is very easy to clean up and durable as hell. Only downside is its not Granite/Quartz and that seems to be whats in.

I'd take Corian in a heartbeat, but that stuff is expensive!!

I was thinking engineered granite...I don't care what it is made out of as long as it is hard, heat proof and solid black...and won't rape me in the wallet.

Its expensive but well worth it imo, Ive burned it, tried to cut it and it holds up like crazy. It won't stain, I have burned it (my wife) but I took some sandpaper and then buffed it back to normal. IIRC they come in colors that look like granite/quartz.

I have a good granite guy. If someone would like his name/number, PM me. I don't want anyone thinking I'm advertising here. Some things to remember on a retro-fit: Most tops are 26" deep, and every inch matters, so there will be some waste. A new sink is needed for under-mount, and a new fixture for said sink. If you have a cook-top (not a drop-in range) they will need to cut that out as well.

I was just fucking with you, man.

Anywho, my counters are 26 deep, one side is 26x110, the other is (merged) 26x133, the island is 26x76 and the other counter is 26x76 as well. Im too lazy to look up the sqft, but it seems that to redo my kitchen would be expensive.

Based on your measurements, and depending on cuts/angles/waste, you probably have around 80sq.ft. or so. Most of the stuff I use runs around $32/$34 a ft. and he charges for fabricating the undermount sink cut-out and the sink itself (which is about $400 for both).

BTW, there's not a thing wrong with Corian. It's just that granite has dropped so much in price that it's now cheaper than everything except formica and cultured marble.

Wow, disregard your PM vertnut, those are some great prices...I assume that is installed. I'd like to have a sink that is just a giant basin so I can wash my dogs in it as well...can he do those?

Sounds like my kitchen. I have a 26x114 stretch and the rest sound about right. I have a cooktop that needs to be cut out and a sink that needs to be replaced. I'm REALLY trying to keep it $3000 or less...might as well just let that dream fly away.

After the granite is in you need the tile and stone back splash too. It all adds up.

There is already a tile backsplash, we are going to try and carefully remove the old (formica) counter tops.

We used a company in 2010 that was $24/sf for 3cm. Not sure what their pricing is now (or if they're still in business). I did the demo and installed the new backsplash (after the granite was installed). I speak spanish so this helped
