What a/c filter do ya'll use?

What filter do you use on your return duct? I've ran the cheapies since we have been in this house for about 5 years and it seems like every year I have to clean the inside coil because it's clogged up. It doesn't help that the driveway is gravel and tracks a lot of dust into the house.

The inside unit is in a closet with 3 return grills, would it be worth it to mount filters on those aswell? Maybe cheapies there?

MERV 8 pleated filter from filers-now.com. I would only use one filter right at the unit and replace it monthly unless you actually don't run it much during some months. If you have the room up there you can increase the size of the filter housing so you can use thicker filters and not have to replace them as often. My 4" filters get replaced annually and the coils are still squeaky clean per my ac guy.

If you're referring to those blue fiberglass cheap filters....you can start by using better filters. I use the pleated ones, I forgot what rating but they're like 8-10 bucks each and I replace them monthly.
