The most difficult part for us was prep, but not "floor" prep necessarily. It was removing all of the old baseboards and door trim, undercutting all of the door casings. Pulling up all the old carpet, padding, and tack strips nailed to the concrete. Cleaning up 50 years of crap that dropped through the carpet.. You get the picture.

Plus, we repainted and decorated most of the rooms as we did the floors, which greatly increased the scope for most rooms.

I'll 2nd this. Best investment I made was to buy one of these:

It allowed me to under cut at the door frames so I could slip the edge of the flooring under. Also, you may find under carpet, that builders get sloppy and leave spills of plaster or paint that are rough and would cause rises. You can use the scraper with this tool to scrape them off. New baseboards are a must too so that is something to budget for.

If you get the Allure, be careful about getting certain grains. I noticed that the Cherry in each store had a hazy appearance. That more complicated grain tends to trap dirt when you mop I think. I tried cleaning samples they had, but it stayed hazy. I don't know why. I went with the Sapiela Red. It had the straight grain pattern. NEVER USE MOP & GLOW on it. Looks great at first, but shows every little scuff after you walk around on it especially with the darker colors.

If you go to HD you can get a sample. It looks better in person.

Just a heads up, this stuff is VERY heavy. One box covers 19.8 sq ft but it weighs like 45lbs if I remember right. So 1,000 sq ft worth is like 2,000lbs. I mention this only as it relates to picking up the product.
