  • Experience with front load washers

We are looking to purchase a new washer and dryer when we move in to our new house. We were sold on a front load washer but have heard problems. It seems there are issues with mold in the washers. Anyone have experience with this?

As long as you leave the door cracked after each use, no problems. We've had ours for over 7 years, no mold issues. Every 3 months or so we do run one of those cleaner things you get at the store thru it. It's probably nothing more than soap infused into the little packet you toss in tho.

Yellowstang pretty much nailed it, there is not much more to add. They are a good percentage better than the top load variety. Biggest one for me is how quiet they are, I really like that.

We're going on somewhere between 3-5 years with ours, no problems. I'm not looking forward to when they do have problems though.

Had ours for 4 yrs now with 0 issues. As mentioned keep the door cracked for an hour after use and run a cycle of bleach through it once a month and it stays clean.

          End thread.

However I should say that our first generation Maytag Neptune had no issues at all and we always closed the door. I'm not sure why this is the case. It finally died after 10 years and we replaced it with an LG. We leave the door cracked on that one..

We had one (a $$ Kenmore Elite). I bought it three times basically (initial purchase + extended warranty + more and more parts into it).

This time around (after the kenmore's electronics died yet again) we have a bigger family and got a LARGE LG top loader (LG 5101 IIRC) and matching dryer. Fantastic washer and dryer. And they are MASSIVE. Really cut down on the number of loads we do.

I got mine from http://www.ninostrading.com/. Even with shipping it was cheaper than local (considering tax, etc.).
