Having not read about it - obviously. If it does not require maintenance or as much - up front maybe more but may end up cheaper if you're saving on fertilizer, weed killer, and so on.

My mom just had some put in a few weeks ago. So far they are happy with it. These pics were from yesterday. It feels like real grass with bare feet. I'm pretty impressed with it, time will tell if it holds up.

The thing that looks like a seam is really a grade change on the property, there is a seam, but it runs sw to ne in the pics.

OMG...I feel a gtg at your moms house so we can check it out. That looks AWESOME!!

It can definitely look real...I saw some thought on the strip in Vegas and had to actually stop the car to get out and touch it to see if it was real.

Something about that just seems wrong. Maybe a grass "rug" or something to cover the shaded spots but the whole yard? All my outdoors-loving instincts don't like it. Next people will start planting fake trees that stay green through winter...

I can ask her about details, but I know it was pretty pricy, I think she said $20k plus. More than I'll ever spend, that's for sure.

So instead of mowing you have to vacuum your yard?

$20K so you never mow again, never deal with weeds, never deal with chemicals, never waste any water (which will become a huge issue in the next decade), and always have a nice yard for the kids to play int..

I think it might just be totally worth it... I'm definitely checking into it for the next house. Maybe I'll get a putting green too..

We just got 3 estimates all around $8000. The more we look at installed yards and add up what we spend annually the more we are looking to get it done.

I'd think it would be highly susceptible to mold? I dunno...
